…Mr. Chew’s singing. He sang that good ol’ Frank Sinatra’s hit “My Way”. Not bad, if I do say so myself.

HAHAHA just kidding. It was our fire drill. *snort*
(And yes, I am aware that Mr. Chew reads blogs. Don’t know if he reads mine but I’ve got nothing to be afraid of…for now.)

**Note: The last fire drill we had in school was, well, roughly ten years ago.**

Franz Ferdinand – Can’t Stop Feeling

Posted in Entertainment, The yayness by M! on July 1, 2009

One too many things for me to say about this video!
1. Finally, a Franz Ferdinand video which is back to what they used to be like years before– CREATIVE AND RANDOM! The presence of the jelly baffles me.
2. At the beginning, I sense that there’s a hidden message. Greeting people in Thai with that “Sawadeeka gesture”? :P Mosquito/fly-smacking in a certain rhythm is fun? Nyeh.
3. According to many, Nick’s wardrobe is a bizarre place. Proven @ 0:13, but I love the white cardigan (can be seen pretty often throughout the video)
4. Nevertheless, Nick is still awesome.
5. Nick is not only a guitar God, but he’s now a JUGGLING GOD as well. (I fail miserably at juggling three objects all at once)
6. Paul combing his hair, in-sync with the music = PERFECT
7. Bob has such a cherub-like face. See 0:57. Aww.
8. They’ve mentioned a lot about using the Doppler Effect in their new album. They achieved it by using a swinging microphone. Revelation @ 1:20.
9. Alex and his dancing @ 1:27 is pretty addictive to watch HAHAH. Fancy those kicks.
10. I think this is the first time I’m seeing a dancing Bob.
11. 2:16 = THE WOW FACTOR.
12. Hot iron, anybody? 2:41.

Digi’s Yellow Coverage Fellow strikes back! Donno how long this [new] advertisment has been around lah (I could be outdated y’know), but I think it’s worth some laughs :D

(Just in case for those who need to know: Digi is one of our local mobile operators and the YCF is their mascot — Assumed to be “invisible” to the phone user.)

..but still, it’s the most interesting thumbdrive I’ve ever seen. I can spend hours by just looking at it.

Yesterday, Farisha told me this joke:
There were two hydrogen atoms.

Hydrogen atom 1: Hey, I think I’m losing an electron.
Hydrogen atom 2: Are you sure?
Hydrogen atom 1: I’m positive.

You must know your chemistry.

Blast. Should’ve known about this blogging method a lot earlier. It’s less troublesome and it has neat photo effects.

Anyway, I changed my theme again. What I like about this one is that it has a large width = Bigger photos :D

Of sniping and old ladies

Posted in School-related, Serious please by M! on June 19, 2009
1. Tales from my mother..
When I was only two weeks old, I was overfed and I had to be rushed to a hospital — and I would have died.
Much later in life as an infant, I had bronchitis because I slept next to some fan with full power.
Who was behind all this?
It was my paternal grandmother.
She died of I-don’t-know-what just a few months ago. I did not attend her funeral. She wasn’t nice. She was very racist, especially towards my mother. Y’see..I don’t have respect for those who don’t respect..
When I was five, that old lady asked me if I wanted any of her pearls/gems/whatnot. I said “Tak nak!” (I don’t want!) and she muttered “Bodoh!” (Stupid!). My mother saw the whole thing.
..and that old lady dared to question me regarding marriage, last year.
“What race do you want to marry (if you had to choose)?”
“Uh…Chinese…” (Honestly folks, it really was the most sensible answer I could give. Why not Malay? I do not want to make the same mistake as my mother’s)
She laughed as though there’s a joke written across my face.
I swear that I will have the last laugh, but now’s not the time.
I just felt like sharing this. I think I am desensitized, heh.
2. There’s always a “phase” when I have the need to listen to something danceable.
Eg: Datarock, Daft Punk, Justice, Jamiroquai and of course..Franz Ferdinand.
The thing is: I can’t dance to save my life and yet I like songs that make you want to dance.
The most I could do is tap my feet or bob my head to the beat. HAHA.
Oh yeah and good chord progressions are colourful and they taste good. I am not synaesthetic, though.
If you are a pianist/guitarist, compare these chords:
a) Bm  F#  G  Em  F#  G  A  Bm
b) C  G  Am  F  C  G  F  C

three A compilation of photos of my Biology teacher, Mr Phuah. Much thanks to Elena, who took the photos, made some captions while we reviewed ‘em and also named my camera Sniper. A not-so-fast one

thimble

He told us about his experience in Tasmania, Australia, when he was about eighteen/nineteen.
It went like this:
“When I studied there, I lived with this old lady. I rented one of her rooms and one part of the deal was that I had to feed her beloved cat every morning at 5 AM.

Once, I slept at 2 AM because I had to study for a test; Otherwise my degree will go down the drain. Waking up at 5 for the sake of warming the milk for the cat made things worse. Once I was done heating up the milk, I called for the cat and then it came. It went to the milk, looked at it, and went off without even touching the milk.

I was so furious that I grabbed the cat by its tail, dragged it out of the house, swung it over my head in circles (like a lasso HAHAHA) and flung that cat. It went flying over the fence and to the neighbour’s garden. It never came back for 4 days. My landlord asked me “Have you seen my cat?” and I said “No…”

On the fifth day, it came back. I ran towards it and hugged it tightly. I was thankful that it returned. I never got to tell the old lady the truth. In fact, I acted like a hero and told her, “Mrs ____, I looked all over for your cat! I search high and low and I found it!…Here’s your cat.”

She treated me to a dinner at a fancy restaurant.

And she’s not around anymore. I never got to tell her the truth.”

He still hates cats. He also told us that he loves dogs and owns a beagle. An instant “Aww” factor.

New theme, as you can see. Changed it because I felt like doing so. Besides..this theme adds a pretty neat frame to my pictures.

one Random photos.

‘Twas taken the morning after our Biology Paper 2.
Supposedly “Mid Year Examination” and “Biology”
(And yes, I reach school THAT early)

I think almost everyone has seen this sort of picture. A coin/ring + a book to get that heart shadow.
Cliché but I decided to try pulling off the same kind of photo for myself.
Suits the title of the chapter on the right, don’t you think? And that book was I Am The Messenger :D

I know that I have other Toy Story toys/figurines somewhere..Bo Peep + her sheep (from Japan), Zurg, LGM, but no Woody :(
But hey, Toy Story 3 will be released next year! :D I’ve been waiting for this since ‘06. Or was it ‘07? *shrugs*

two I found this video of Vladimir Putin “reviewing” Call of Duty 4 (For those who don’t know, Mr Putin is the Prime Minister of Russia)

Nyeh, don’t worry — it’s fake. You gotta admit that his in-game name is…very clever.
The video gave me a strong urge to learn some Russian alphabets. And so I did. In less than an hour.
My name in Russian alphabets would be Малини. Pronounced the same way. Heh. That’s what happens when you stay at home for two weeks. Of course, I did greet the sun now and then.

three Found another old camera in my house – Canon Autoboy SII. Not as old as the Canon AE-1 Program which I found. Both are film cameras. Autoboy (Autobot heh) has such a small viewfinder but it has this panorama slider-button-doohickey which makes the viewfinder narrower. AE-1 Program has a huge viewfinder. Oh yeah, I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned that D40’s is rather small.

Yep. Autoboy.

Canon Canon Nikon
All from different uh, decades. 80’s, 90’s, and 2000’s.

[I'm still waiting to buy me films to test the AE-1.]

Plus I don’t know whether Autoboy is considered rare or what because I can’t seem to find this thing through Google.

Surviving the first week of holidaze
one Conditions were perfect. My mom wasn’t at home. I’m inside a room. And what did I do?
I did a cover of Franz Ferdinand’s No You Girls. Covered every instrument but there’s no vocals in this one because..I can’t sing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AUf7G-DdzY
two I invited Moses over to my house.
three I was claying around.
four OVERDUE! I was supposed to write a post about the Band Party we had on the 29th of May, but there was no way I could upload the photos.
Anyway, I finally got the pictures uploaded last night but it’s in Facebook. Click here if you want to have a look at ‘em. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=111970&id=592014972&l=f231e158b3
Long story short, the band party was held at Steffi’s house + neighbourhood. At the very same time, there was a Green House party elsewhere (haha green house effect). I had two choices and obviously, I picked the Band Party, because the band is forever “the best” ;)
What, I’m proud to be a band geek! :D
Those who didn’t attend (for whatever reason) have absolutely missed the fun we had lah. The party was a good opportunity to bond with the other BANDitos, since we had some group activities/games. We played this Amazing Race sort of game, running back and forth from the house to the playground..pretty much like testing our own endurance.
One last statement: If we’re talking about team/society parties, I’d rather go for band parties anytime. Right right right? ;)

..did I ever mention that I have a thing for building IKEA stuff?

three I was claying around. For the sake of my Art project.

And take a look at my right thumb. Le hitchhiker’s thumb :D

four I think that it’s going to be a great year, in terms of games and such. With the Sims 3 released and the soon-to-be-released Tales of Monkey Island and BEATLES ROCKBAND, I wonder how I am going to set my mind onto SPM..

A 3D John Lennon is pretty good-looking HAHA. Ok lah, I definitely can’t get this one since it’s ROCKBAND. A whole set. No way.

Going bananas for Monkey Island

Posted in The yayness by M! on June 3, 2009

WARNING: There be a nerdy talk about gaming ahead of ye.

Coincidence comes like a [insert whatever word you want right here]

Just yesterday, I finally got back my Escape From Monkey Island CD from my friend. Yeah, the CD’s been lying in her house for years because I thought that she’d play it  ..I’ve been wanting to play it since the Mid-Year exams ended.

You see, Escape From Monkey Island is the fourth part of the Monkey Island series, and it was released back in 2000. I never got to play the previous parts of the series. The first two had no voice-overs and everything was pixelated. The third one is more of a cartoony style. The fourth one is well, 3D. A lot of people (that I don’t know) have said that the third installment is the best. The thing is, I don’t know where to get it if I can’t buy it online.

..but that’s not the point. Today, I just found out that the fifth part is going to be released soon! And not only that — The first installment is going to be re-released in Special Edition, meaning it has revamped graphics! It’s strange how coincidental stuff works, eh?

“Tales of Monkey Island is to be released in five monthly episodes on PC, with the first due July 7, then later for the Wii as a WiiWare downloadable title. Pre-orders are now open, offering a DVD release with cover art by the wonderful Steve Purcell.”

Guybrush has a beard in the fifth installment, dang it. And it looks like I can only purchase the game through the net. :-?

Double dang it.

Modelling mishaps

Posted in Just for laughs by M! on June 1, 2009

Alright, so I was playing around with a 3D modelling+animation program which I found in my computer (Autodesk 3ds Max 2009 — never knew it was installed in my computer!)
I tried to make a cat by following some tutorials but it turned out like something else instead:

Photobucket
An llama-Anubis hybrid.

FAIL.
