Surviving the second week of holidaze

New theme, as you can see. Changed it because I felt like doing so. Besides..this theme adds a pretty neat frame to my pictures.

I think almost everyone has seen this sort of picture. A coin/ring + a book to get that heart shadow.
Cliché but I decided to try pulling off the same kind of photo for myself.
Suits the title of the chapter on the right, don’t you think? And that book was I Am The Messenger

The sky was pretty one evening. It’s too bad that there are parallel cables in the view.

The study lamp that has aided me throughout the years.
Oh no, it doesn’t enlighten me in terms of knowledge. In fact, it’s what I use on my photography subjects!  

Something tells me that the Various Ink (Refill) looks tasty. Chocolate syrup?

I know that I have other Toy Story toys/figurines somewhere..Bo Peep + her sheep (from Japan), Zurg, LGM, but no Woody  
But hey, Toy Story 3 will be released next year! I’ve been waiting for this since ‘06. Or was it ‘07? *shrugs*

two I found this video of Vladimir Putin “reviewing” Call of Duty 4 (For those who don’t know, Mr Putin is the Prime Minister of Russia)

Nyeh, don’t worry — it’s fake. You gotta admit that his in-game name is…very clever.
The video gave me a strong urge to learn some Russian alphabets. And so I did. In less than an hour.
My name in Russian alphabets would be Малини. Pronounced the same way. Heh. That’s what happens when you stay at home for two weeks. Of course, I did greet the sun now and then.

three Found another old camera in my house – Canon Autoboy SII. Not as old as the Canon AE-1 Program which I found. Both are film cameras. Autoboy (Autobot heh) has such a small viewfinder but it has this panorama slider-button-doohickey which makes the viewfinder narrower. AE-1 Program has a huge viewfinder. Oh yeah, I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned that D40’s is rather small.

Yep. Autoboy.

Plus I don’t know whether Autoboy is considered rare or what because I can’t seem to find this thing through Google.

Butt-smacking goodness!

one My Valentine’s Day was pretty good, in a way. It has nothing to do with people at all. It’s just my purchase of that day which made my day good:

It be Franz Ferdinand’s third album. Been waiting for this since 2007 It was released on the 26th last month. Looked for it everywhere since then, but I failed to find a copy and I assumed that Malaysia was just slow. Luck was on my side on Valentine’s, so to speak.

This album is really different from the last two. I could hear plenty of synths and the drum patterns are very new (the drummer, Paul Thomson, got slightly influenced by some African beats). Most of the songs sound very different and it takes some getting used to. Ulysses is one of my favourite tracks and I somehow managed to figure out the drum pattern at the beginning (which really is a good thing). Czech it oooot!:

two Was supposed to mention this quite some time ago: I have a dwarf hamster!

three I found an old manual camera lying around the house. Played around with it for a while but it’s too bad that there’s no film or battery in it. Very old school. Nevertheless, I’d love to find out about its photo quality, someday..

I figured how to adjust the aperture size (without any reference from the net!)

four Gee, Biology! My class had the chance to poke a cow’s heart and we also got to dissect a sheep’s heart + lungs.

Warning: What you are about to see may be disturbing. Not for the faint-hearted!

Right, this is not the start of the “disturbing photos” journey, HAHAHA.

Apparently, this sheep has 3 lungs…according to my own eyes..

This is how the sheep’s lungs looked like before it is filled with carbon dioxide
(Yes, someone had to provide some CO2 through that burette attached)

That “white-beige-pink” thing just popped out and spreaded like a plague!
Another person squeezed the lungs and the unpleasant air from the lungs went back into the CO2 provider’s mouth
