Wizardry, vampirism, and all of the world’s craziness
Bwaaah.
Come and point your burning pitchforks at me.
Why I think that Stephenie Meyer is no better than J.K. Rowling:
1. J.K. Rowling is obviously much more creative, in terms of the creations in the magical universe and the storyline. She came up with the wizard sport named Quidditch (plus how the game works), muggles, name of spells, horcruxes, so on and so forth. It makes you think that the whole universe of witchcraft and wizardry exists somewhere out there, although you actually know that it’s all fictional. I doubt that Meyer has made any fancy words. Even if there is any, it’ll never be as much as Rowling’s.
2. Like I said in my previous post, Meyer’s Edward Cullen is too perfect. Oh come on, a good-looking dude who’s a vampire that sparkles and claims that he is a vegetarian…yeah. Not your average vampire, but it sounds like his characteristics were taken randomly from a pile of flawless traits. Not good. Ugh. Even Harry Potter does not seem as “fake and too perfect” as that Cullen fellow.
3. Rowling’s Harry Potter appeals to a wider audience. Meyer’s Twilight series appeals to teenagers and pre-teens. Or more like for people who have love issues or some fetish towards vampirism.
“So…Twilight is your love bible?”
4. I just love how Rowling can write an amazing series in about 10 years. The story’s just too good, especially when there are all of those unexpected twists. Take Snape, for example. None of us could have guessed what happened during his past (it was so saddening that it made me cry). Plus the death of many which leaves us dumbfounded. Oh, how we used to think that Harry Potter was really going to die. As for Twilight, it looks like an everyday love story, as though it was based on Meyer’s life. I believe that her life depends on it. Heh.
5. Theme, theme, theme. Harry Potter has plenty of it. Love, friendship, courage, power, and a whole lot of death. Going through adolescenthood. Having to fit in. Twilight? 97% love. 2% blood-shopping. 1% lust.

(+) All of the Form Four students are supposed to go to Lim Kok Wing University of Creative Technology (!!) as a little trip on this coming Tuesday. Apparently, my class teacher did not know that there was a permission slip for us to fill in (it’s a little bit too late now). It’s a compulsory trip anyway, and I do hope that I could go there. Should the plan succeed, I shall take my D40 along with me to do some photo-snapping.
